Day 189
Since I haven't been able to drive I have taken to walking a lot. I have become quite addicted to hooking up my ipod and trudging the pavement, listening to my cheesy but awesome tunes! I love music! I don't just like one type of music but anything that I can sing to. I know I probably look like a goose as I am walking along but I find myself getting so caught up in some of the songs I feel like my life is just one big themesong and I am the star. I have to be careful to not break out into a musical style song and dance or I will scare the passers by!!
At last I have finally found a cost free addiction that will stop me from going shopping (for a little while at least!!)

A Positive Year - Day 188
Day 188
Slowly but surely my hand is starting to get better. I can do a lot more today that what I have been able to before. However I must remember not to be too stubborn and to give it a rest when it starts to hurt!
I hate having to rely on others to do things for me! I have always been one who wants to do everything myself so it's very hard to leave things for others. I feel so much more confident and happy that I can do the basics myself. The best part is that it's just gonna keep getting better and better!

A Positive Year - Day 187

You have to love the miracle healing power of laughing!! After an extremely boring week convalescing with my hand it was so nice to get out with the fam and enjoy the day. I have to say it was one of those weekends where I haven't laughed that hard in a long while!!
It certainly makes a difference when you can have a real belly laugh to the point your tummy hurts! It definitely took the focus off my sore hand and used my energy more positively.
I wish days like that could last forever!

Today is alreay an awesome day because my family is here to keep me company. I was going stir crazy all week being stuck at home by myself, not being able to do anything. I don't care what we do today but it will be nice just to be able to spend it with my family.
It is so easy to take you loved ones for granted on a day to day basis when they're always there but when something like this happens it reminds me how special and important they are and how much I miss them when they're not with me.

TGIF!!
After a week of being stuck at home not being able to do anything I am looking forward to a weekend with my family. Although I still won't be able to do much at least I will have company while I do it!!
I have to laugh at the fact that when I am working I whinge at the fact that I wish I could have a rest and now that I am stuck at home I wish that I could go to work!! Seriously I must stop whining and just enjoy the moment!
So today I am going to enjoy doing nothing (since that's all I can do) and look forward to having my family around me for the next couple of days.

A Positive Year - Day 184

Thank God for my mates!! I was going completely insane being stuck at home with my dodgy hand and not being able to do anything and my friend came and took me out for the morning to restore my sanity.
There's nothing worse than being stuck at home with nothing to do - it certainly makes it a loooong day! Instead of a long boring day I have had a few laughs and a nice outing to take my mind off the boredom! It's so much better laughing at my misfortune with a friend than sitting at home wallowing in it by myself!

Another day stuck at home post op and I am bored bored BORED! Although after the full on week last week it was nice to have a couple of nothing days. I just wish I could make the most of it and use my hand!!

Well I'm back home and have to type with my left hand but am doing pretty well post op. I still can't feel my fingers and am really frustrated about not being able to do stuff but other than that I can't complain.
Now since I am stuck at home I am going to embrace the boredom and catch up on some movies, reading and lots of walking!!

I have to write this post early today because I am off to hospital to have surgery on my hand. Not a positive thing to look forward to, but I am looking forward to my hand being fixed!! Also I won't be able to iron or do housework this week. Gees now that is definitely a positive!!

A Positive Year - Day 180

It's Sunday and I don't have to work today, that's a positive way to start the day!!
The last few weeks have been absolute bedlam so the reason I love this Sunday so much is because it is the first day of normality for me (well sort of). Our new permanent roster starts tomorrow which will give me a bit of normality there too but my week will be a lot quieter because I have to have an operation on my hand tomorrow so I will be having some forced time off work for recovery.
Although the timing stinks because I have just started my new job but I am so looking forward to a bit of a rest (for a couple of days at least!!)

A Positive Year - Day 179

After another full on day at work it was so nice to come home and be surprised with the housework and groceries being done and dinner already getting prepared! I am absolutely beat so am so grateful that I can come home and relax with a pear cider in a nice clean home and there is nothing to do.
How lucky am I to have such a wonderful hubby and kids to have everything done for me like this!!

Day 178
This morning my youngest daughter decided to surprise me and make me a packed lunch for work. She was so excited when she showed me what she had done. She packed me some vegemite crackers, a mueseli bar and a diet coke. She even filled my water bottle with ice and water so it would stay cold!
Sometime kids can just be so sweet and thoughtful! It definitely made my morning feel all warm and fuzzy!

It was another busy day at work today! I have to say though it definitely makes the day goes faster! I am also feeling a lot more confident in my job which makes things a lot easier!
Now it is time to focus on a bit of balance so I don't dig myself into the stressed hole that I was in last time! But I have to say that it makes a huge difference when you get designated breaks and have a supportive boss!

A Positive Year - Day 176

What a day!! Today was the store opening for work and it was even bigger than anything I could've imagined!! There were people and bargains everywhere!!
It was such a supercharged environment to be in and was a lot of fun! It was great to be there and see the finished product after all the days of putting out stock and getting everything ready. And to top it off the response from the public was amazing!! I still can't believe how many people made the effort to come down to the store and check it out! I just wish I could've snatch up some of the amazing bargains they put on throughout the day!
Now I think it is time for a nice glass of wine and put my feet up!

A Positive Year - Day 175

Today I got to serve my first customers in our new store. We had a soft opening and it was great to have a bit of practice before the big onslaught tomorrow with the grand opening. I am very proud to say that I didn't stuff up once!! I even had one customer ask me if I had been transferred from another store and she was surprised when I said I was new :-)
This has given me the confidence to believe that I will get through tomorrow okay! Hopefully tomorrow will be a mistake free day too!!
The perfect way to top off a positive morning was to stop for a bit of bargain shoe shopping on my way home. Although I do think my hubby has a gps alarm installed in my phone to let him know when I am in a shoe store. He has an uncanny knack of calling just as I am about to purchase a bargain!!

A Positive Year - Day 174

Today is a great day because it is still my weekend and I have a day off. My friend and I decided to make the most of the fact that we both had a day off together and we went to the movies this morning. I love the movies!! It's the whole atmosphere of it, with the popcorny smells and big screens. It reminds me of being a kid. Not that we went to the movies often back then, but I absolutely loved it when we did because it was such a rare treat!!
I have always been a big movie lover and I still get excited like a kid when I get to go. It's a great way to start the week :-)

Aaaah Sunday!!! How can I not love you when I have today off (well a day off from work, not the ironing!). But it is so nice not to have to rush of a morning and just laze about in our pjs until whenever we want.

I love it when I have a productive and busy day!! There was so much to get through at work today to be ready for our opening next week so we were all super busy!! I much prefer these type of days instead of quiet boring days. It definitely goes so much faster when you're flat out working.
It was also extra nice to come home and find the washing done and the floors cleaned and the groceries done also. That was an extra added bonus to make my afternoon!
Now we can relax for the arvo and have some quality family time :-)

A Positive Year - Day 170
Day 170
There is only one thing that I can think of that is positive and that would have to be my glass of wine. I have been feeling quite frustrated this arvo. I just found out that I have to have an operation on my wrist because of carpal tunnel. The bummer of it all is that I have just started at work and the first week that I will be on my regular permanent roster is the week that I will be getting operated on!! Seriously what are the odds of that happening!!! I know I definitely have to have the first week off because I'm not allowed to drive but after that I am not sure how long I will have to be off which is totally frustrating! Then to top if all off I will have to go back in later and get the second wrist done too!! One positive thing is that I can't iron, mop, vacuum etc for six weeks (there's gotta be some bonus!!)
Anyway so that is why I am loving my wine this evening. It is a nice end to a not so nice afternoon. Thank God tomorrow is another day!

A Positive Year - Day 169
Day 169
Lately I feel like everything is just spiralling out of control and that I can't seem to catch my breath or get everything done that I need to. I know it's because I am still getting back into the routine of being at work so I am hoping once I have my permanent roster things will start to settle down.
Last night my youngest daughter was up sick with a cold most of the night and I had a lot of time to sit and think while I wasn't sleeping. I came to the realisation that I overthink and stress about things waaay too much! I know that I don't have to keep working if it doesn't suit but I really enjoy it it!! It would also be so disappointing to chuck it all in so quickly after all the effort and extra work it has put on my family while I have been in induction and set up. Also I don't want to give anything up before I have given it a real chance. It's just so frustrating that things can go along so boringly, with no major incidents, until you start back at work and then the wheels seem to fall off!
I have decided that I am not going to stress over the things that I have no control over, I will just deal with them when they rear their ugly head!! So today I am chilling with my youngest girl and enjoying cuddles on the lounge and a bit of one on one time. The world can wait until tomorrow.

A Positive Year - Day 168

Today I had my first haircut today since I shaved it in February and I must say it was loooong overdue!! I had the ultimate hair helmet going on, it was a classic! I can't believe how much hair was chopped off considering that I didn't really have any taken off the length.
I have really missed going and getting my hair done. It's such a nice feeling to have a nice new style. And the best part is, no more helmet!!

A Positive Year - Day 167

Aaaaahhh it's the first day back of school. Today is the first day I have had to myself since I don't know when!! The girls were quite excited to be getting back to their friends also which makes back to school so much easier!!
Don't get me wrong, I do miss the girls when they go back to school and I can't wait for them to get home, but that doesn't mean that I won't enjoy the time I have to myself while they're gone!
I got to go for an extra long walk and listen to my ipod and stroll through the shops and look at things I want to look at without any complaints. I had forgotten how peaceful that was!!!
Anyway now that the end of the school day is nearing I am starting to notice the quiet and I am missing their noise. Mind you I think it will only take 5 minutes after they're home and I will be missing the quiet again!!

A Positive Year - Day 166

I love the sunshine! This morning we started the day off with a barbecue breakfast and a lazy morning just laying out on the back lounge soaking up the sun. I feel warm all the way to my bones. I even got a little bit of colour on my legs (which is pretty good since I am wearing jeans!!). I am now so relaxed and feel totally wound down from the week and I absolutely love this feeling!!
Things have been so busy these days that it's so nice to be able to put on the brakes for a morning and just chill out in the sunshine.

After a hard day's work there's no better sight when you come home than your hubby doing the ironing for you!! Today was a very productive day and I spent a lot of time up and down ladders adjusting shelves and putting away stock so I was feeling a bit tired this arvo and my hand was a bit swollen (damn carpal tunnel!!) so the last thing I felt like doing was any ironing. I am so grateful that he is here to iron for me!!

Woo hoo it's Fun Mum Friday!!
I love Fridays!! Even though I have to work tomorrow I still love the fact that it's Friday! Friday afternoon is always time for Fun Mum Friday!! We always do something fun on a Friday arvo. There is never any homework or boring stuff, it's all about fun!
At the moment the kids are down at the basketball court with my hubby so I am relaxing after work for a few minutes to recharge the batteries before Fun Mum Friday begins!!

A Positive Year - Day 163

Don't you just love those days at work where you get heaps done but you have a ball doing it? Today was one of those days!
I was a bit reluctant to go to work this morning because my hand had swollen up for some unknown reason and I was worried I would make it worse over the day but once I got there I was so glad that I went. I made sure I didn't do any heavy lifting with my hand because I don't know why it was swollen but we still had enough to do without too much muscle strain. The other good part was that I was working with a real top chick who has a great sense of humour and is up for a bit of a laugh.
It makes the day go so much faster when you can have a chat and a laugh and still get the job done!

A Positive Year - Day 162

Well it was back to work for me today after having a lovely (but super fast) 4 day weekend.
This week when I am working my hubby is home looking after the girls while they are on school holidays. This makes me feel a lot better than sending them to vacation care. Apart from the obvious cost, I always felt guilty while they were there, even though they said they enjoyed it, I still couldn't get past my guilty feeling.
I am so lucky that I get to spend a lot of time with the girls when hubby is at work and he misses out on so much so it's nice that he gets to have some daddy daughter time with them and they absolutely love it!! The only drawback is that I want to be able to stay at home and hang out with them, especially on these cold mornings!! Although once I get there I really enjoy myself. It helps that I work with such fun and lovely people!
Well it was back to work for me today after having a lovely (but super fast) 4 day weekend.
This week when I am working my hubby is home looking after the girls while they are on school holidays. This makes me feel a lot better than sending them to vacation care. Apart from the obvious cost, I always felt guilty while they were there, even though they said they enjoyed it, I still couldn't get past my guilty feeling.
I am so lucky that I get to spend a lot of time with the girls when hubby is at work and he misses out on so much so it's nice that he gets to have some daddy daughter time with them and they absolutely love it!! The only drawback is that I want to be able to stay at home and hang out with them, especially on these cold mornings!! Although once I get there I really enjoy myself. A Positive Year - Day 161
Day 161
It doesn't take much for me to get excited and today is no different. This morning I have to put the car to get new tyres and that means I have an hour of nothing planned with my girls. It has been so long since we had nothing planned and I am going to enjoy every minute of it.
I am not sure what we are going to do while we are waiting but I am sure we will find something. What ever it is we will make sure to relax and enjoy before I have to come back and start painting the hallway. Especially since I will be working for the next four days!!

A Positive Year - Day 160
Day 160
Lately I feel like life has been all work and no play. I have really missed catching up with my friends. It seems like everytime I think I will get a chance something comes along to put a spanner in the works!!
On the upside, I have gotten so much done lately! Apart from starting my new job, I have gotten into some more painting, bought and built new furniture for the room and rearranged everything!! It has been great having the extra money from me working to spend on the little fripperies that we want but don't exactly need.
So even though my social life has been put on hold, I am looking at the light at the end of the tunnel that once I have my permanent roster I will be able to factor in a bit of fun as well!!

A Positive Year - Day 159
Day 159
Aaaah finally the sun is shining again!! It actually got warm enough that I had to take my jumper off!! I absolutely love warm sunny days and have made the most of the little time we have had at home today sitting in the sun and getting some vitamin D.
I just hope there are some more sunny days to come - especially on my days off!
