A Positive Year - Day 97

Day 97

I finally did it!!  I have been talking about doing it since for ever but today was the day!!
I finally bit the bullet and had my induction at the gym and activated my membership.  I have really missed the gym and I have missed the good feeling I have after a workout.  I have decided that no matter how busy life gets that I will not let my health be compromised again!

I now have a two weeks to get my routine up and going before I start back at work (that's when the real test will be!).  I have also bought a lock for my bike so I can ride to the gym and back so I should be super fit in no time!!

A Positive Year - Day 96

I love the imagination of my kids!  It has been a wet and rainy dull weekend but that certainly hasn't dampened their spirits!

Today my youngest is a mad scientist.  She has been researching experiments and getting ideas off other mad scientists and setting up her laboratory in her room.  As long as there are no experiments on the carpet then the laboratory can stay!

As we speak she is googling on her ipod for her next invention!  I hope her minion (she has employed Bugger the bird for this job!) survives her experiments!!

A Positive Year - Day 95

Although I am a summer person who much prefers the heats to the cold, I do love the occasional rainy and cold Saturday morning when I don't have to go anywhere!

I love being able to sleep in because it's a bit darker of a morning and then having a nice slow breakfast and not having to rush to get out of my pjs.

To make the most of this rainy day the girls and I are going to snuggle up under blankets and watch some movies for the day.  It's just a bummer that hubby has to go out!

Luckily we stocked up on supplies for a rainy day so we don't have to go out and brave this weather!!

I love a good belly laugh!!  I have spent most of today just laughing so hard that my tummy hurts!!

Today started off with a funny movie with friends.  It was exactly what we all needed!  A bit of childish potty humour is always guaranteed for a good laugh!

Life is far too serious most of the time so I really enjoy taking the time out for a chuckle!

A Positive Year - Day 93

Today I had an induction for a company to do merchandising and refits for supermarkets.  I am not sure if it's something I want to do but I figured "why not give it a go" until the position I really want is ready for me to start!

I have decided that I will not say no to any opportunity given to me (as long as it benefits me and my family).

I am definitely ready to be doing something workwise.  I am not the type of person who can sit around and do nothing but I will not work in a position that will stress me out and make me as sick as I what I was in my last position ever again!!  I am not afraid of hard work but I will not let anyone make unreasonable demands on me that will effect my health or my family.  I have learnt my lesson and I am better for it.

Now it's time for me to give it a go and see what happens!! 

A Positive Year - Day 92

Our family doesn't have too many traditions but there is always one thing I remember from when I was a little girl.  Every year we would always run up to Grandma's kitchen and make Anzac Biscuits with her on Anzac Day.

I remember how warm the kitchen was and how special I felt that I was able to do help, I also remember tasting the mixture before we put them in the oven and we'd always make one extra large biscuit to see how it would turn out (it was always super gooey but still delicious!!).

I have kept that tradition going with my girls.  It is our special way of commemorating Anzac Day.  This morning the girls and I have baked a batch of Anzac Biscuits.  They are cooking away in the oven as I write this and our house smells so homely and sweet.  Now that I am the adult in this exercise I can appreciate the patience that my Grandma had all those years ago!!

A Positive Year - Day 91

Isn't it funny how nothing will happen for a long time and then everything seems to happen all at once!!  This has certainly been a happening week!!  I finally have realised the old saying that if you let go of the crap then you open the door for something better (I know that's not the exact saying but it's how I feel right now!)

Firstly I finally found the gym I feel happy and comfortable in and took the plunge and joined!!  It is time to get this old body back into shape!!

Then to top if all off I have had a few job offers and I am totally confused about which one to take!!  My old self would've stressed until I ended up taking no job and then stressed about that too!!  lol.  The new me is going to an induction for one job on Thursday and then if that doesn't suit me then I will look at the next one!!  I refuse to let myself get sick because of my work ever again so this job will have to suit my lifestyle and not the other way around!  I guess I am lucky to have the luxury to be able to quit if it doesn't feel right!  At least if I'm working a couple of days a week I will stop shopping as much!!

I am definitely at a turning point in my life and I am excited at the options that are opening up for me and my family :-)

A Positive Year - Day 90

Today I have both my girls home sick with fevers and headaches.

Now the panadol has kicked in and their headaches are feeling better we are making things with Ikea beads.

I love quiet crafty days like this!!  I don't love when they are sick, but at least they aren't in pain anymore and their fevers are down so we are enjoying the peace and quiet.

It's not often we get days like this so I want us to make the most of it while we can today, the only bummer is that hubby still had to go to work!! 

I can't wait to see how many creations we have at the end of the day!!  Hopefully we can craft this lurgy right out of everyone!!

I have the sorest tummy at the moment.  It's not from illness or anything like that.  I have laughed so much over the past few days that now my tummy muscles are killing me!!

Now I am thinking, what an awesome workout!!  Perhaps if I keep it up I can end up with a fantastic six pack and at the same time lower my blood pressure!!

I love my friends!!  Although I am loud and a bit nutty and I always say the wrong thing they accept me with all my flaws and just go with it!!

I love how much fun I have with them and that everything always ends up in fits of laughter!  All I can say is thank you ladies!!  You are the best!!

I am so proud of my big girl today that I feel like I could burst with joy!!

I started off today with my first parent/teacher interview at their new school.  I usually know what to expect in these interviews but today it just surpassed any expectations I could've had!!  My big girl has just thrived and excelled to a whole new level and has found her niche in school. 

I am also excited about the opportunities that are opening up for her, I have watched her grow from an unsure child to a confident and happy young lady who finally realises her potential is never ending!

I am now looking forward to my youngest girl's interview next week.

By now I have done so many posts I can't remember what I have written about and what I haven't!  So I apologise if I am repeating myself!

One my favourite things to do is go online and look at shoes.  I am shoe obsessed!!  If I had all the money in the world I would need a whole room just to fit all my shoes in!!

I don't know what it is that I love so much about them!!  I think my obsession started because no matter how fat or thin I am, my shoe is always the same size.  And, it's the only thing that is a guarateed size 8!!

I love the variety of shoes you can get.  There can be a different style for every mood!  I am starting to think that I might just have to do a shoe design course so I can make every different type of shoe I want!!

I love being creative!!  Today I have spent today painting walls and making clothes.  I am in my element!!

I love watching something change so dramatically because I what I have done to it.  I especially love it when it all works out the way I had dreamed it would!!

I finally painted my gold wall and it looks exactly as I imagined!!  I can't stop looking at it.  I also designed and made something for me to wear out this weekend.  Hopefully it won't fall apart but so far I am happy with the result!!  Also time certainly flies when you're happily creating!!

What a fantastic day!!

I decided I needed a morning of friends, shopping and a trip to the chocolate pavillion just to top off the therapy day, and I have to say that my therapy morning worked a treat!!

It was so nice just to be able to take our time and not have to worry about being anywhere in a hurry.  None of us needed to buy anything specific but sometimes it's nice just to browse and check out all the new things that we would like to buy if we won the lotto!

After a nice relaxing morning I was inspired to take on some more creative tasks.  Thanks to a quick trip to Spotlight I am now designing and making something to wear out to a party on Friday night - I hope it works!!  Now after painting the first coat on our bedroom feature wall I am now ready to relax and enjoy the evening!!

A Positive Year - Day 83

Today is the first day back at school for the kiddies.  I have just gotten home and the feels so empty and quiet but as much as I miss my girls I am really enjoying the peace!!

It has been a full on couple of weeks and I didn't know how much I needed a bit of a mooching day plodding around the house in the peace and quiet in my comfy, daggy clothes and not having to worry about anyone except for myself.  I know this probably sounds a bit selfish but I think we can all do with a bit of selfish time every now and then.  And I will admit that I am going to enjoy every minute of it until I gett o see my girls again this afternoon :-)

Welcome to the latest addition to the Thomson family!!

Bugger the bird!!!

We picked up Bugger this morning while we were at the markets.  We weren't planning on buying one today, we were only going to the markets to see my youngest daughter's friend embark on her entrepreneurial career.  But as usual nothing goes as we planned!!  I love that about our life!!  You never know what to expect!

Bugger is settling in nicely and I don't think it will take him too long until he is as crazy as the rest of us!!

A Positive Year - Day 81

This morning my hubby surprised me with a with a flight to Sydney so I can go to my friend's hens party!!  I am so excited!!

The hardest part of living so far away from my friends is missing out on so much exciting stuff with them.  I know that if we still lived near each other that we probably wouldn't see each other any more often than we do now because we have such busy family lives but I really miss the special times like birthdays and barbecues.

I am feeling really lucky right now to be able to go and be a part of a fun night!!

A Positive Year - Day 80

Today is a good day!!  I have been spending the morning relaxing with a friend and having a much needed laugh!!  Kids are happy and life is good!

To top of a good start to the day I am looking forward to happy hour this afternoon!!  My friend and I used to have happy hour (or Friday arvo swim club for the kids) every week to wind down.  It's not like we have a lot to drink but it's nice to have a glass of wine while the kids play.

Today in celebration of our first happy hour for the year we are indulging in margaritas for the afternoon!  It will be nice to relax in a mexican fiesta for the arvo!!

Today I am absolutely drained and exhausted so it is going to be a very small post!!

I am so lucky to have 2 great girls who are sensitive and kind and who are doing an excellent job behaving and looking after their exhausted mum!!

We decided to have a mooch on the lounge afternoon and not do much at all!  Lots of cuddles and movie watching.  That should be enough to recharge the batteries to face another day!!  Plus I absolutely love my cuddles with my girls!!

A Positive Year - Day 78

I love bright colours!!  The more of them the better!!  Yesterday and today I painted a nice bright coloured feature wall in each of my daughter's bedrooms.  My youngest chose a bright lime colour and my eldest picked a bright hot pink colour.  Even though I haven't painted the other neutral walls or changed their bedding yet, their rooms already look so much better with the bright coloured wall!!

The girls really picked colours that suit their personalities.  I love that they are so different and they are happy to embrace their differences and just go with it!  It's also nice to see splashes of bright colours when I walk through the house.  Now I am up to painting our bedroom with a feature colour.  I have picked a nice metallic gold.  I can't wait to see how it turns out!!  Finally our house is starting to look more like ours on the inside as well as the out!

I love it that my friends seem to know when I am having one of those days and need a bit of a lift!

Some days are just pure crap (sorry but there's not other way I can explain it), and there's nothing worse than when you can't get out of the slump that you're in.  That is when my friends always seem to have the knack of giving me a call right at that time and cheer me up!  I hate being stuck in that pitt of negativity so it's a great relief when they do call so I can snap out of it!!

Today has been one of those days, so I am very appreciative of my friend giving me a call and following it up with a visit and a laugh.  Now I am feeling so much better!!

A Positive Year - Day 76

Those of you who know me, know that I take my shopping seriously, which is why I am so surprised that it took me over a week to go and check out the newly refurbished shopping centre near my place.  Now that I have been I have to say - wow!!

Unfortunately it was a bit too busy today to be able to really go and have a good shop but I certainly scoped out all the place I will be going once school has gone back!!

One place I did check out today was the Chocolate Pavillion.  Now when you go to a place called the Chocolate Pavillion I think there is one thing you should order (especially on your first visit) and that one thing you should order is chocolate!!  I can honestly say I was not disappointed!!!

I think this place will be my best friend and my enemy!!  The chocolate was to die for but unfortunately it is not good for my already sizeable butt!!  Luckily they are building a gym upstairs so you can go and work it off afterwards!!  Or you can always go shopping for more shoes!

I tried the Dark Chocolate Praline hot chocolate.  It was divine!!  It also satisfied my chocolate addiction for today!  All I can say is I think that place is gonna do a roaring trade with us hormonal women!!  lol

A Positive Year - Day 75

Happy Easter everyone!!  I hope you're enjoying some chocolate time with your family!

I love the excitement of Easter!  Although we had an extra late night last night because we went to the musical of Annie (which has absolutely fantastic!!  The kids were absolutely blown away by it!), the girls were both up by 6.30am and ready to check out if the Easter Bunny had left them any chocolate eggs.  Luckily the Easter Bunny didn't disappoint!!

After a breakfast of eggs (of course) - the girls and I set off to the markets for a bit of  mother/daughter time and to check out their great products for the day.  Usually the markets are really busy but today they were nice and quiet (another bonus of Easter Sunday) so we had a fantastic time trawling through all the stalls and checking everything out!

Gees it's only 9.45am and I have so many positive things to write about!!  What a fantastic way to start the day!!  Now I think it is about time for a cuppa and an Easter Egg!!

A Positive Year - Day 74

It's another gorgeous sunny day - perfect weather for the Easter long weekend!!

Although we're having a quiet day today, we have an exciting night planned!  We're taking the girls as a surprise to see Annie the musical.  I absolutely looooove musicals!!  I really wanted to take them to see Mary Poppins but we missed out on getting tickets so I am so excited we get to take them to Annie!

This will be an absolute treat for them.  They haven't been to a musical like this before so I think it will be a real eye opener for them.

I hope they love it as much as I do!

A Positive Year - Day 73

As usual, it's a public holiday and nothing is open so instead of sleeping in (like I want to every other day) I am up at the crack of dawn full of beans!!

Today I have already been chopping down trees, dancing with the kids and and started doing some baking!  I think if I don't use up some of this energy soon I may have to do some more house painting!!  I love it when I have a really productive day like this.  It makes up for the days when I feel like doing nothing!

Now onto my next project.......

A Positive Year - Day 72

Today we took the girls to the Plaster Fun House at Belmont for a bit of a creative morning.  I am still not sure who had the most fun!!

I absolutely love anything crafty and this was an inexpensive and fun way to start the day!

I am sure that we will definitely be going back there again!!

My youngest daughter painted the crocodile, my eldest daughter painted the dog and I painted the butterfly.  I love that they don't follow the normal rules and colours of painting and can express themselves with colour.

I also love that the like to do fun and crafty things with me so I can keep reliving my childhood!

We're having a few girly days while hubby is away at a conference so we're busily painting and getting other stuff done around the house to keep us out of trouble.  So we made an executive decision that we would have a nice hearty breakfast!!  Plus Hayley bugs me every day to have bacon and eggs for brekky and is always disappointed!!

There is nothing like the smell of bacon!!  You can't smell it without your mouth watering!

Although due to the size of my butt (and the fact I don't have a gallbladder) I couldn't eat it every day, but on the rare occassion we indulge it is awesome!!!

It was a nice way to start the day!!

A Positive Year - Day 70

I love how unpredictable my youngest girl can be.  Today, while cleaning her room, she must've found some awesome stuff because she decided to give herself a makeover with it.

Then after her makeover we were going to Bunnings to buy some awesomely bright paint colours for the feature walls in the our bedrooms.  We thought today is a good day to go because my hubby (who is the voice of reason) is away - I think he's gonna be in for a bit of a surprise!!  But not as much of a surprise as the people who were serving us at Bunnings - I think they knew what to make of my little zombie!!

I love that my kids like to express themselves in crazy ways - it definitely confirms to me that they're mine!

A Positive Year - Day 69

Today is the first official day of the holidays.  Although I can honestly say that it is definitely not a holiday for me!!

My youngest girl had a play date at her friend's house from her old school so after I dropped her off there I went out with my big girl to visit some friends and to take her shopping with her gift voucher from her birthday.  Then it was back home to do a second coat of paint in the spare bedroom and start cleaning the house!! 

I am so happy with the result of painting the first room and am now wanting to rush through and paint the rest.  At least if will stop me from sitting around on my butt over the Easter weekend!!  Luckily we have tomorrow at home so I can get some cleaning and other stuff done, and the added bonus is I have two extra helpers!!  Now I just have to let those helpers know!  lol

A Positive Year - Day 68

There's nothing like a green cordial slushie after an afternoon of painting!!

By the time I had finished the room it was stinking hot and I was sweating like a pig!  It's only a small spare room but I had to have the windows closed and the fan off so the curtains would blow around and land on the painted walls.  Needless to say, by the time I was done I was hanging for a green slushie!!

It is the ultimate drink!  Especially if it's really hot or you have a hangover - mind you my hangover days are definitely over!!  I don't even remember the last time I had one (and I am definitely not complaining about that!!). 

Anyway now it is time for me to sit back and relax with my green slushie and be happy that I have finally painted the first room of our house.  Now only the rest to go!!  I think my slushie machine will be getting a workout!!
